Directions for use

Place the SR221 pre-filter into the Sundström pre-filter holder.
Snap the holder onto the main Sundström filter (e.g. SR 510 P3 filter or combined filter).
Attach the assembled filter unit securely to your Sundström respirator.
Replace the pre-filter regularly (recommended daily or when visibly clogged) to prolong the life of the main filter.

Fit check

Use the pre-filter holder to check if the mask is tight.
Place the pre-filter holder to the filter.
Put the mask on. Place the palm of your hand lightly over the hole on the pre-filter holder to make it tight.

NOTE: Do not push so hard that the respirator’s shape is affected.

Take a deep breath and hold your breath for about 10 seconds. If the mask is tight, it will be pressed against your face.

If any leakage is detected, check the inhalation and exhalation valves, adjust the straps of head harness or switch to alternative size of the respirator. Repeat the fit check until there is no leakage.

Storage

Store at room temperature in clean, dry place. If seal has been broken, store away from contaminants in an air-tight container.

Does the SR 221 pre-filter provide protection on its own?

No. The SR221 is not a protective filter by itself. It must always be used together with a main particle or combined filter.

When should the Sundström SR 221 pre-filter be replaced?

The Sundström SR 221 pre-filter should be replaced daily, or every time the respirator is used. Its role is to trap larger particles before they reach the main filter, so it becomes dirty much faster than the primary filter.

You should also replace the pre-filter immediately if it becomes visibly dirty, clogged, wet, or unhygienic. Regular replacement helps maintain comfortable breathing and can significantly extend the life of the main particle or gas filter.
