Designed for the safe containment and transportation of infectious or contaminated linen, these soluble seam bags help minimise unnecessary handling between the initial collection of linen and the laundry process. They are suitable for healthcare, commercial laundry and other environments where contaminated linen needs to be contained and handled appropriately.

The yellow colour provides a clear visual distinction for infectious linen, helping separate it from other laundry during handling and transportation. 

How Do Soluble Seam Bags Work?

Each bag is manufactured from polyethylene with a water-soluble seam running down the middle and includes a detachable soluble tie for securing the opening.

Once placed into the laundry cycle, the seam dissolves during the initial stages of washing, allowing the bag to open and release the infectious or soiled linen. This means the contents can remain contained from collection through to washing, helping reduce the need for additional handling.

The soluble seam is positioned on the outside of the bag, helping prevent it from prematurely dissolving if it comes into contact with damp linen while the bag is being filled or transported.

Alginate bags or dissolvable laundry bags are commonly used terms for laundry bags designed to reduce direct handling of contaminated linen during the laundering process. These particular alginate bags use a soluble seam design: rather than the entire polyethylene bag dissolving, the seam dissolves in the wash so the bag opens and releases the linen.
